Bodacious Wings Cajun Style

For this recipe, we started with 4 pounds of chicken wings. Cajun food is traditionally well spiced, and these wings were no exception, leading to the delicious scents wafting off of them.

We baked the wings first for about 30 to 40 minutes, under the guise of healthier cooking, and then immediately flashed fry them. Fried food is always way more delicious than baked food, but we suggest limiting these savory wings to an occasional treat.

Once they’ve been fried and drained, the wings can be set aside on paper towels to absorb more liquid or left in the pain until the wing sauce is ready. To create a low sodium sauce mix 1/4 cup of our VooDoo Mojo seasoning, and one stick of melted butter. For no hassle and a tad bit more sweet use 1/2 cup our Bodacious Bayou Seasoning Sauce and tossed the wings in a giant bowl. Both these products are inspired by Popie who loves Cajun food from living in the South for many years.

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. On a baking sheet, place wings and bake in oven for 30-35 minutes.

  2. While wings are baking, in a medium sauce pan add VooDoo Mojo and one stick of butter. Right before wings are done melt butter until smooth make sure not to burn. If using Bodacious Bayou sauce see #4

  3. In a fryer or Dutch oven, heat 4 cups oil to 375 degrees. Place wings in oil, batch by batch and fry until golden and crispy, about 5-7 minutes.

  4. Drain wings on paper towels and place into large bowl with sauce mixture. Toss wings until they are thoroughly coated. For those who like dry wings sprinkle with VooDoo Mojo seasoning blend until thoroughly coated

  5. Serve with bleu cheese dressing and celery and carrot sticks.

Ingredients:

  • 4 lbs chicken wings
